Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description
On a blue rectangular background 3 3/16 inches (8.10 cm) in length and 1 5/8 inches (4.13 cm) in height with rounded corners a pair of white stylized wings above three light blue wavy bards 1 5/8 inches (4.13 cm) in length with the letters MAAF in yellow superimposed thereon, all surrounded by a yellow orle 3/32 of an inch (.24 cm) from the edge.

Symbolism
The wings suggest the Allied Air Forces and the blue lines the waters of the Mediterranean where the command was operational.  The letters MAAF form the official abbreviation for the unit.

Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia was approved 14 August 1944.
